Kenny himself didn't think that he was going anywhere and was shocked that New Japan didn't want to work with AEW.
I'm fairly certain he signed a deal just to be in this game and wasn't worried about the future. Same for people like Kushida. Especially considering these deals were made last year before the unrest from Harold occurred.
These kind of deals are why you had ROH releasing Kevin Steen action figures while Kevin Owens was in NXT.

I think some digital games do remove certain characters. EA sports did this with Madden 19 when they took out Kareem Hunt after he kicked a woman in the head. In this case that player was little more than a face texture, and an entry in a database with some stats attached. That's super easy to replace in MINUTES. 2K has to book studio time for moves motion capture, voice over work for announcing, voice over work for the career cutscenes both from that star and everyone else who references them. Then there is the cost of laser scanning and 3d modeling. Removing someone from the game after all that happened is near impossible, especially with the time restraints. They ship every 12 months, and the game has to be done a lot earlier than that. The rest is getting certified to go gold and having the physical games produced.

WWE2K games often feature people who have already left, but they can't recreate the game again just over that. Especially when the cutscenes and voice over has already finished being recorded. You can't just rebook studio time on the fly and redo all that stuff. Especially when it's crunch time, and people are at trying to get all the bugs out during the last 2 months so they can pass the XB/PS4 technical certifications to go gold. Acclaim released an enhanced version of WWF Attitude on Dreamcast after they had already lost the WWE license. WWF Wrestlemania 2000 had already come out a month prior. WWE Warzone came out in summer 1998 with Bret Hart and British Bulldog on the roster. The fact they are leaving NJPW doesn't retroactively affect prior deals they were in. Only time someone was removed, was Big Show and Chris Benoit. Big Show was removed from WWE No Mercy because he was in the dog house. Benoit.. I forget. There's a space time continuum thing. It wasn't much work to take Big Show out. There were no voice overs or anything. He just needed to be deleted in the list, and replaced with other characters in the title stories. In reference to WWE Warzone there were some early versions that got out that had Owen Hart after he died he was removed from the game but some copies with Owen do exist Warzone came out in 98, Owen died in 99. He was in most versions of the game He was also in most versions of Attitude in tribute

I think even if Omega had to be removed for any reason they'd just patch out the character but leave all the edit parts for him in & give them generic names, removing the references to Omega.
On a side note to what was asked above;B*n*o*t was removed from svr 2008

On a side note to what was asked above;B*n*o*t was removed from svr 2008 I doubt rhey’ll do anything. But they could not possibly remove the parts or moves, because it would cause too many issues in the workshop.

This isn’t how licensing works at all. You can’t and don’t need remove characters or likenesses retroactively.
If the game were to get a re release in the future then sure Chunsoft would need to agree royalties to the effected parties, but not in this instance because a wrestler is changing contracts with a promotion. Nothing is altered.

Not that this should become a thread on NJPW Roster Changes, but Katsuya Kitamura who is in the game has left NJPW.

Any precedent for this, say the WWE games? WWE2K games often feature people who have already left, but they can't recreate the game again just over that. One of the wwe games removed the hurricane (he was still in the road to wrestlemania that year due to time )after they fired him over a backstage incident
