I can't figure out a PC way to say this so I'm just going to fire it out and hope it doesn't piss anybody off too bad. A single guy made Stardew Valley when the two companies couldn't meet the fans' expectations of what Harvest Moon should be. MDickie made...his thing...because he didn't like the direction of WWE games. Instead of wanting to burn down the world or yourself over Spike's incompetence, pool your resources and try to create your own thing. I know alot people mod just for fun or as a learning experience but the tools are out there. Build a good framework and the community will flesh it out. I can only imagine what work the Fire Pro/AKI community could do if they had modern tools to work with/learn instead of gameshark codes and the archaic move animator Fire Pro has. (me, i'm half an idiot. that's why i stick to pooling information in new threads and being a hype man for things i like :p)
I'm not interested in creating my own thing...I don't do art, it's not an interest of mine, and what's the point when I can do this instead?
If you want to keep continuing to defend Spike while they ram it down your throat, be my guest, but we're NEVER going to agree here so you can probably just drop it at this point.

For a side note: Im not against the modding at all, and fully support it. I just dont want Spike to see us as assholes and cut us off earlier than they would have to begin with.
They're going to cut us off when they are told to cut us off regardless of what the community does.

Why work on a new game when you can mod the games you enjoy? Unless someone wants to try recreating KOC, there's no real point in trying to make a new wrestling engine from scratch. Even if I change VPW2 around, I'm very much limited by the N64 and its capabilities. No, I don't want to do something that only works on emulators. Yes, I realize I'm talking about a different game series. As for making a new wrestling engine from scratch, I'm not convinced it's a pointless endeavor. Then again, I've been thinking about it for too many years now, and not doing anything about it.

If Spike was going to cut off the PC player base over modding, I think it would have happened already. Things like modded moves, modded edits on the workshop and even the early days of Carl's mods exposing the WIP venue were a greater issue than a tool that checks for legitimate game copies before allowing edits to be imported/exported. The fact that they haven't made modding any more difficult than it's always been points to their stance on the matter, I think. If there's ever a mod that actively screws up players' save files or something similar we can worry about Spike's response then.

I find it odd that people are keep categorizing this as a 'civil war', even as a joke, because it's kinda not. Different people have different uses and preferences for Fire Pro, and while it sucks that it's likely we'll all have to choose to have mods or have official updates, that's all it really is. It's not an inherent, philosophical division.
That being said, while I understand the dev team is overworked and understaffed, the project is hanging by a thread, and it makes sense to prioritize both PS4 and NJPW content because they can potentially make the most money(and extend the life of the game), the could have at least given Carl a heads up about the delay.

Hell if someone smart enough to do a translate mod for KOC 2 so I don't have to use a guide that'd be perfect! (Thanks oneway!) KOC 2 still exceeds most games today.

Make KOC 3, or vpw 3, or WWF raw 3, fuck, someone just make a third game already.
JK, kinda, not really, those games could all be great. Yes even the Raw series, as it had features that only entered the smackdown series a few years ago. Stupid 2k, lazy fucks.
And freem, were you illuding to not having a game on emulators, like, would they be on the cartridge??

If you're frustrated at being at the whims of others and stuck in their sandbox, try doing your own thing free of limitations. That isn't an insult or an attempt to shut you up like most people who would suggest that sort of thing. There's so much talent in the wrestling modding community, I'm sure a framework can be put together that would be better than World or the AKI games. Maybe not on day 1 but if you simplified the tools it'd take to import faces/textures and animate moves/taunts, the community would rally around your project. Like if you created a move animation tool that was 3D stick figures with joint points that the animator could manipulate and snap individual frames until they had a complete animation, everybody and their mother would be cranking out new moves/taunts. (or if that guy working on aki evolution decided to help on the gameplay of a new project. oh man i'm morphing into vince with the bodybuilder just thinking about it ;)

What a train wreck. All I care about is the new moves. I don't understand what has gone wrong in implementing the NJPW stuff into the game. Isn't it just a story mode, more moves and parts? How did that completely f-up the game? They cut off the modded moves and now this crap.

I too am eagerly awaiting PWX aka best wrestling game of forever lol PWX was a good idea but it had horrible execution. Way too much focus on graphics, horrible optimization, barely there gameplay that doesn't come close to replicating AKI, cart before the horse feature roadmap, closed everything. I think they just recently got a single animator on board. 3 years in development and they're still in tech demo land. What a train wreck. All I care about is the new moves. I don't understand what has gone wrong in implementing the NJPW stuff into the game. Isn't it just a story mode, more moves and parts? How did that completely f-up the game? They cut off the modded moves and now this crap. I think it's more that they don't want to add more to their plate before they get the game-destroying bugs for PS4 fixed. If it's like the PC release, the entire (10 man) dev team has been diverted to bug squashing. That's pretty essential since the US PS4 release hasn't been delayed.
