Doubtful. It took long enough just to get the attire changes in the game to begin with. Outside of a simple color swap, I don't see any extra logos/parts added for the vanilla version of the game. Yeah, especially when the game is based off of 2017 New Japan, I don't see them adjusting that unless they do a second "scenario" that happens in 2018, and then it'll be outdated again. I kinda wish this was viewed like some sports games, where they get updated constantly with roster updates, stat updates, etc., but these games are nowhere near as popular. Never mind the fact that most of the official Spike edits don't seem all-that-great. I dunno, I think Otaku or I could probably churn out better NJPW edits at this point and probably will in the future, although a good bulk of people will obviously just be using the defaults. Roster updates for sports games aren't done in perpetuity for a single game, though. FIFA 18 doesn't have all of this past summer transfer window's roster updates, despite the fact that EA is more than capable of offering them, simply because they want you to buy FIFA 19. I do see your point that Fire Pro could release updates throughout a calendar year, though, and I'd be all for that. On the other hand, we'd then also be locked into an annual release cycle where you're paying full retail price every year for what oftentimes realistically amounts to some spit polish and roster updates that were held hostage.

It doesn't have to be this great community divider, but just give everyone a break. This is a big deal.
Very much this.
It's not about dividing the community, it's about making sure the option exists for people like Spunk and myself who feel that what the ModSuite brings to the table is indispensable to their enjoyment of the game, and that those of us who do take that route are not completely hamstrung by the situation. If that means that some toes will get stepped on, there's not much I can do about that at this point. I tried to do something about it, and Spike politely declined, and I politely said "I understand" and we both went our own ways as we normally do. Now the situation is slightly different because we're no longer talking about a couple of weeks, but what could essentially be 3 1/2 months.
I've always said that I work on the ModSuite because I use the ModSuite, and so I'd really like to be able to play one of the only games I play instead of having to shelf it for months just to avoid stirring shit up with the devs. I hope they understand my position here, as I understood their position to keep the pre-release builds in house and politely say "I understand"...but if they can't, don't, or won't...there's not much I can do about that because I'm not shooting myself in the foot to maintain their goodwill when this is a clear slap in the face while they try to stick it in the PS4 crowd at our expense...sorry, it's just not going to happen.

If this is some sort of civil war, then Im on team Carl.
SC gave us all a great gift, which we all gave them money for, but Carl and all the move and texture modders have made the game light years ahead of vanilla, without getting a dime.
At this point I don’t care if some bridge is burned. The PC version of World is eternal, Im not worried that we won’t get new moves or sequels. The community has already made it superfluous.
I will still buy the PS4 version I preordered. Ill now even play it too, but if we can circumvent SC’s restrictions on the PC version and keep our mods? Fuck it. No brainer.

Okay, I wasn't entertained, but that's okay, keep fighting, keep it above the belt, the navel is a hell of a target. Also, open hand strikes, hurts less, saves your knuckles.
I'm with Carl. This community exists for this community, not Spike Chunsoft. I have my hesitations with casting my vote for removing the Workshop from the equation NOW, though. As soon as we get Story Mode and Fire Promoter on PC, then, I have no problem. Those are important things we can improve on later, I don't want them to become PS4-only, I want that code exploitable on PC.
My vision for this game in 5 years is that it will be modded so thoroughly that it will not be recognizable as the same as the base Fire Pro World outside of the match engine. This vision involves, of course, mods. Maybe Carl cannot fix his mod to work with the new content now, but in a community where members count their involvment in DECADES, do you have any doubts that eventually all that stuff will be in? Also, let's not sell this community short, there will be more modders in months and years to come. Carl might not even have to do it anymore than Jason Blackhart had to. Remember JB? Many of you might not even know of him. There was a time when no name was hotter in this than JB.
If there is a Mod / No Mod split, it will only be temporary.
This is our game, all of ours. If nobody else likes it, it's their fucking problem and Spike's.
Also, I will not support the PS4 version past the 3 copies I've bought. No Anthology on PS4, only on PC. I will also make it available unthetered from the Workshop as soon as that option becomes available.

I been thinking, and I'm still disappointed, not over the NJPW DLC mind you but the consistent failure of spike.
Look I get it's a small team, I get the NJPW deal is big and takes priority but the complete lack of communication on their part still leaves me a sour taste in my mouth.
Also I hate microtransactions but so many missed opportunities on spike for some quick cash if thats all their worried about. How about a fucking arena pack? Give us back the old returns arenas, or a outdoor arena like the older games. These have pretty much already been accomplished by image swaps and ect by players. So why cant the dev team throw something together?
Or have a move pack, just something, it'd not only get them cash but make us PC players feel less abandoned.
Or hell remember the whole reason that Promoter got delayed in the first place? You couldn't add new edits to a existing game. you'd have to start all over to bring in new edits.
Well fuck, release that version, THEN update it down the line to add new edits. Sure people would gripe but it'd be better than waiting damn near a year for the mode.

The mod suite will eventually get updated for the latest version of the game...so all that stuff will eventually be available to mod and play around with, and to be fair, the update may not change all that much and the updating will be easy...I don't know yet, and that is part of the problem I'm having here. I allotted time for an update when they gave their initial release date. I know shit happens, and those things are tenative, so it's not even the delay that has me upset, it's the implications of the delay, it's the inherent tip-toeing around just saying "you guys aren't a priority anymore" while clearly saying "you guys aren't a priority anymore" that has me upset about this.
A delay I can deal with, a delay so they can wine and dine some other community because it's potentially more lucrative while giving us the finger and essentially saying "we know you'll still be there, so whatever...wait for it..." is unsupportable.

Also, for what it's worth, the next version of the ModSuite will include an anti-piracy check, so pirates won't be able to use the edit importer/exporter.

Pardon my ignorance with programming/coding, but outside of new edit mode part/move options and the story mode, is there anything you could think of that would disturb the code more than in previous updates and DLCs?

I can't figure out a PC way to say this so I'm just going to fire it out and hope it doesn't piss anybody off too bad.
A single guy made Stardew Valley when the two companies couldn't meet the fans' expectations of what Harvest Moon should be. MDickie made...his thing...because he didn't like the direction of WWE games. Instead of wanting to burn down the world or yourself over Spike's incompetence, pool your resources and try to create your own thing.
I know alot people mod just for fun or as a learning experience but the tools are out there. Build a good framework and the community will flesh it out. I can only imagine what work the Fire Pro/AKI community could do if they had modern tools to work with/learn instead of gameshark codes and the archaic move animator Fire Pro has.
(me, i'm half an idiot. that's why i stick to pooling information in new threads and being a hype man for things i like :p)

Why work on a new game when you can mod the games you enjoy? Unless someone wants to try recreating KOC, there's no real point in trying to make a new wrestling engine from scratch. And if a method of sharing edits for mod users is enough to get Spike upset, that's really all on them. We've already done things like end move pack distribution, not shared information they didn't want exposed, removed modded edits from the workshop, etc.
I would hope that the good faith goes both ways, and not just from the community to Spike.

I don't know how story mode sets up matches, it could fundamentally change many of the injection pointers for things that modify match code.
There will be new voices that will break the rumble mod
UI changes could fuck up a lot of things, including the loading of the windows...
There's lots of potential problems...I won't know how big they are until I see the code. The entire thing could be a non-issue, but I want to prepare people for the worst, and then if things turn out to be no big deal, then they're no big deal...
That said, it still doesn't excuse the negligent treatment the PC received while they did this PS4 crap.

For a side note: Im not against the modding at all, and fully support it.
I just dont want Spike to see us as assholes and cut us off earlier than they would have to begin with.
