^I really hate that the PS4 Pro is a thing it's like "haha, fuck you for buying a PS4 in its first 4 years on the market" >_>
I know the game won't look anywhere near that good on a standard PS4 and that's incredibly unfortunate [/first world problems]
But yeah, still excited for it. Just hope someone gets the stones to show some standard PS4 footage before release.
Going back to MK for a second,
this trailer is pretty rad and shows a few more previously unseen classic characters (sorry, I don't do the "K" stuff)

I'm very surprised to see Yoshitora from SamSho V, and Shiki from SamSho 64 finally gets in a main game.
It doesn't look like Gen-An and Wan Fu will be in the core roster. They were in the first game, but DLC would be a likely option.
The total roster within Samurai Shodown is so huge though that I wouldn't mind some really obscure characters in there. And by obscure, I mean folks like Orihida from the pachislot game, Shippu no Reon and Ushiwakahime from the RPG and Taizan Morozumi from the second SamSho 64 game.

That seriously looks incredible. The graphic style and animation engine give it so much HEFT and impact. I love it. I can't wait to play this game and will probably preorder it, especially if there are any bonuses.
Come on SNK, keep the old school love coming! 😀

Unarmed Blade catching still in Samurai Shodown

Wow, that is really cool! So blade catching was in previous SS games? I never encountered it. Is it essentially like a special counter move that is performed in advance (a la Geese) or more like what happens if someone without a weapon makes contact at the same time as someone with a weapon?

As far as I know it was only previously in Samurai Shodown 2. It's performed as a timing based catch move as you are about to be struck and will not work against low attacks. It's performed as a quarter circle forward while pressing Medium and Heavy at the same time while unarmed, which I think is exactly how they were performed in Samurai Shodown 2. Now they just need to confirm there will still be grounded hits like Ukyo's ground stab and all my questions about the game will be answered.
Some notes on gameplay mechanics from a SamSho player who got to play it at PAX:

Wow, very cool! I like the "Geese" counter element here with the timing anticipation!
Definitely hope that ground hits are confirmed as well 👍
Thanks for that link. I'm very excited for this game. Admittedly, I never played SS2 all that much despite playing the molasses-slow SS3 way too much. I played SS1 the most in the series. I either never learned or don't remember some of the mechanics that were introduced into the later games. So I'm hoping to figure out as much as I can before it comes out.

So, a newcomer was revealed/confirmed for the MK11 roster today. Her name is Cetrion. She appears to be......well......she appears to be MOTHER NATURE HERSELF O_O And yeah, she's predictably awesome-looking given that
(sorry, that's the best I can do until it hits YouTube)
seriously though, if you have any interest in MK11, check that link out the vid's at the top of the page

Her finisher is like a Final Fantasy summon. She reminds me of the Shishigami from Princess Mononoke.

She summons herself apparently! It's like some kind of Jenova plus Kefka's Light of Judgement! Plus a little SNK Orochi power for good measure. Also a little Poison Ivy. And she looks a little like King Hiss from He-Man. AND SHE F*CKS YOU UP WITH ROCKS. Like...it's absolutely hilarious to me to see this character literally breaking bones with sticks and stones and then growing to a Galactus planetary scale and frying the opponent with a kame-hame-ha. The only thing that's missing is for her to get infinitesimally small and beat her opponent that way too.

Little bit of news on SamSho from Famitsu.
Predicting the guy with wings will be some sort of Tengu inspired character.

Haohmaru's fierce slash still looks deadly! Love the way the blade kind of gets stuck in there!
Really glad that Earthquake ("AARTHQUAKE!") will be in it and he looks appropriately menacing. Also, I never realized until now how much I want to see Earthquake vs. Hugo as a dream match in Capcom vs. SNK 3!!
