Daylight Savings Time on night shift is such a pain in the ass. I was in security for 3 and 1/2 years. I know the pain of working an 8pm-5am shift with having to "fall back."

It's more than a little frustrating to have so many "well, if this get approved sooner rather than later" and "if we were back on speaking terms" when the rest makes it look like we're just sitting on our butts waiting for the year to end.

From what I understand, cars on average are around three thousand pounds. All wheel drive and winter tires give drivers INCREASED traction and stopping power on snow covered roads, roads that are more akin to frictionless surfaces than dry roads. Speed limits are suggested speeds for optimal road and traffic conditions and are to be decreased when optimal conditions are not present.
In my city, grown ass people with enough money to purchase vehicles and seemingly with somewhere to be every morning (jobs I guess?) continue to hurtle their 3000 lb vehicles down pitch black strips of snow/ice covered roads at maximum speeds, annoyed at those not going 100 km/hr plus on what is basically a nearly frictionless surface, can somehow not understand that even with all wheel drive and winter tires that the rules of physics still apply, even if you do drive a brand new pick up or SUV. I watched some douche bag hit the rhubarb Saturday, brand new pick up, was behind a corolla, got pissed off that the guy wasn’t going 80 km/hr on the drift covered road, blew past him , and slid off the shoulder at the intersection. It amazes me sometimes that anyone lives past their thirties. 🙂
So yeah, between Friday and Sunday evening, there were 363 accidents in the city. Every year it snows, every year the roads suck, and yet every year everyone drives like assholes. What is it that they say about repeatedly doing the same thing and expecting different results?

I'm torn. One one hand, there are few who are more upset at the lowered standards of drivers than I am. This is one reason why I dread this winter as every year people are worse on the roads. I started driving in the mid 90's and loved it. Now every time I drive I empathize with Thomas Hobbes. "War of all against all." On the other hand, my life may have just been made by one of the best sentences I've ever seen written. I watched some douche bag hit the rhubarb Saturday Please tell me where "hit the rhubarb" came from. I take it its a Canadian expression? It is beautiful and it cleanses this entire thread. The addition of douchebag uplifts it further 😁

Sounds like bad drivers are a constant no matter where you live.
Totally not surprised they were in a pickup, either.

Haha! I didn’t even think about it, but yeah, my grandpa and my mom always talked about getting into the rhubarb, so perhaps it is a Canuckistani thing. Feel free to spread the bitter love down south, carry forth the tradition into the land of milk and honey, and enjoy watching douchebags in pick ups hit the rhubarb, losing a golf ball into the rhubarb, and going for a hike off trail into the rhubarb. It’s the angry goose of the vegetation world!

#1 reason why people are bad at driving in inclement weather: They don't SLOW THE FUCK DOWN.
Not every driving situation is solved by hauling ass. The bigger the vehicle, the larger the ego.

I watched some douche bag hit the rhubarb Saturday, Best rhubarb maxim since at least "never rub another man's rhubarb." Totally thinking of that next time I'm simming and someone misses a dive.

#1 reason why people are bad at driving in inclement weather: They don't SLOW THE FUCK DOWN. Not every driving situation is solved by hauling ass. The bigger the vehicle, the larger the ego. Yep, people think if they have winter tires on they can drive at normal speeds as well. I've had more than one drive home during bad snow where cars are piled up into ditches. I was once passed by a guy who as soon as he got by me started to fishtail and ended up going down the highway completely sideways with traffic coming in both directions with him in the middle lane.
It's not my driving I'm worried about, it's the other guy. In the event of a blizzard I am still calling in to work nor will I come in if I am on call during a blizzard and I get called in. They even tried calling people in back when we had that hurricane. I was on call but cellphone service was out, not that I would have gone in anway. We were once told highway closures to non essential vehicles did not apply to us. I don't think anyone bought that line. You can get fined for being on the highway when it's closed and I'm sure the company has no intention of covering these fines. I'm just amazed they had the nerve to even say that.
I'm glad to work for the company I work for, but I'm not dying for them and I think taking one sick day in the last seven years while other people call in sick weekly should give me some leeway.

I absolutely love it. I'm not sure which I like better: "getting into the rhubarb" or "hitting the rhubarb" They are both brilliant and hilarious to me! 😁 It’s the angry goose of the vegetation world! I watched some douche bag hit the rhubarb Saturday, Best rhubarb maxim since at least "never rub another man's rhubarb." Totally thinking of that next time I'm simming and someone misses a dive. LOLOLOL perfect application for that! And wow - "never rub another man's rhubarb" makes it into the top rhubarb-related comments!!!! 😭🤣

It might not be for bullshit reasons this time but they've cried wolf so many times I just don't care anymore.
The other one, OK, if I'm such a bad guy with a short fuse why would you risk antagonizing me further?

So if what's suggested is true it could go either way; they have the experience, but a lot of that was several years and one major surgery ago. Their priorities are also an issue.
On top of that one of the more reliable ones here might end up at the other site, which could probably use them more but it creates a big gap.

Attention, boozehounds:
Trying to buy beer before cutoff is not like walking into a store before closing. The transaction has to be completed by cutoff, which means the clerk has to have time to check your identification, scan your purchase, and process your payment.
Don't roll up at the literal last minute and then get mad when I say no.
I will not go to jail over your poor time management skills. I am within my rights to refuse service, and I will not be swayed by threats or bribery.
Deal with it.

We've had issues lately. Most of them sadly are due to other areas not being on point. Which led to another one that oddly could have been avoided if they had done the usual "let's just wait for so and so to handle it."
And yet at the same time apparently there's a call to be stricter about other stuff which apparently got somebody in trouble already. I can see the point, but it seems a stretch to do that. Which we already have as a "being treated is bad, but being treated like shit is OK!"

This month has been weird.
There's stuff going on that really doesn't dispel the Hydra jokes, or our own adopting of "We're not here to take part, we're here to take over!"
Similarly there's been some "I need to talk to you" but it kind of just doesn't get past a certain point. Yet at the same time I don't need any more drama from certain individuals.
