So making the costume or attire for a wrestler is quite easy though adding finer detail requires a good understanding of layers, being creative and having a good eye. Yet my biggest issue is always getting the face just right and I can never make facial hair sit right without it looking like it floats off the face. The below is Shinobu, a Japanese independent wrestler who has had a long stint in Big Japan Pro Wrestling (BJW) and I require help please in picking and creating his face/head. Would anyone have any suggestions that would look right or be able to offer any advice? Thank you. Edit: I’m on PS4 and there is no Shinobu to copy from on the FirePro-w site.

Yeah, that's always the most challenging part of creating an edit. A lot of times, you have try to find the face that is the closest resembles who you want to make.

I remember Shinobu from back in 07-08 when I was really into BJW. He was one of my favorites. Glad to see he is still going. As for the face, I think a big problem is that there is a clear difference between the first tier of newly added heads that look amazing and the old ones that at this point look terrible. So we are limited to a lot of the newer ones. TBH you might be good giving him a more "generic" looking NJPW face, like maybe SANADA? Or Kawato?

Yeah, that's always the most challenging part of creating an edit. A lot of times, you have try to find the face that is the closest resembles who you want to make. And then when you do and have that first match you notice that the back of the head pokes through the hair or there are gaps. I don’t like that hair and face sometimes simply don’t go together well, it’s very odd. I played a lot of Fire Pro A and D and the layers were not existent so a face was a face, ever since R I’ve had such a hard time making it work right :(

Well I’ve put Shinobu up on the PS4 FirePro-W, it’s the only one. I’m not thrilled with the face but happy with the moveset, logic, attire etc.
At least something for him is up, even if it’s just a base for others to perfect.

What about Shinjiro Otani's old head? 342.

Yep faces are the hardest I spend most my time edit making trying to get the right face, I also resize em as well which makes small changes but not a whole heap.

For me it's getting the colors right. I miss how it was in returns so much.

Definitely some cool things you could do with gradients, but as someone who puts a lot of work into appearances, I gotta say I’d take the current layer system over gradients if given the choice. Without hesitation. Also yeah, picking the right face is the most difficult, tedious part of creating an edit...which is why I don’t even bother. I go to the workshop and look for an edit of the guy I want to make and look for one with a good face. Then I download it and use it as a base.

I honestly cannot stand how on the PS4 version I cannot enter RGB values directly or how most edits end up looking either to pale or to tan. It's skin color in particular that I have the most issue with. I always end up going back to tweak it.

I'm aware I'm a bit late to the party but you could try Phil Parent's/B.J Sturgeon's visual head list stjurgeon.tripod.com/fpww/index.html . I'd be absolutely lost without it! I have the PC version so I don't know if the face/number allocation is the same for the PS4 but it's a start. If the allocation is the same, making the face becomes fun and not a chore, believe me. Hope it helps.

I think for most of edits I start by putting the pieces together, the features. maybe some facial hair or EVILS eye bag area face Mark's. or the eyebrows.. I forget the number but it's the 5th page up from the bottom when scrolling back through all.
once I've got them sorted I painstakingly... scroll through ALL of the faces one by one. anything that makes me go "OH!" I save, copy to another attire slot, then continue scrolling. Once I have 4 different faces that all give me a feeling of "yeah that looks good" I'll then go between them all and work out my favourite.
As with the WWE games... you can have a perfect face. but it never clicks until you get the exact right hairstyle to go with it. so that's why I try to set all that up first.
Also, sometimes face on they dont look as good front facing as side on or 45 degree angled.. where I'll be viewing them mostly in ring anyway.

Also, sometimes face on they dont look as good front facing as side on or 45 degree angled.. where I'll be viewing them mostly in ring anyway. One tip I wanna add is: ALWAYS be viewing the wrestler in their stance when looking to match up hair/face combinations. (You can have the part preview head-on or to the side to be able to see that view simultaneously.) The reason being that about half the new-at-launch heads are drawn, from one angle (the angle you see on the select screen, as well as if the two wrestlers are diagonal to each other), with their heads inclined about 45 degrees. But ALL the old heads, the other half of the new heads, and all the DLC heads are drawn with the head at about 25-30 degrees in that same position. Using 30-degree hair or beard parts on a 45-degree face, or vice versa, will give you a guy that lools fucked up from that angle, even of he looks spot on every other way. When viewed in their stance, you'll see them from this angle and be able to tell right away if things line up. I'm sure most people have noticed this, of course, but it's an easy thing to forget about when you're trying to get a face together.

Do you think I could be cheeky and ask for some feedback? I’m unable to post direct pictures of Shibobu at the moment but can link to the edit on the FirePro-W site. Thank you firepro-w.com/item/detail/38754What is the best site to host images to share on this board?
