The more I've messed with this, the more I've settled into the groove of making the first three slots a hiss, grunt, and groan. It just seems to work universally for almost any edit; those are noises you'd expect every wrestler to make, and make often. Now I just think of slots 4 and 5 as wildcard "personality" slots; they reinforce the character's gimmick, and are still almost always tied to taunts.
These additional voice slots are a godsend for particularly gimmicky characters, edits where you want to broadcast "hey look everybody it's a pirate/caveman/clown/etc.". My personal edit collection consists of around a dozen "good" wrestlers and about a hundred crappy-ass, super-stereotypical jobbers whose only purpose is to put on a hokey old show while getting whooped by the aforementioned decent dozen, and this update has really breathed new life into those lovable losers. I used to always have to compromise by having one voice slot be for moves and the other for a goofy gimmick-supporting sound, and now I can just let it rip with the goofies.

Agreed, I've been more motivated to port my gimmick characters into FPW because of the voices and also the additional priorities. I haven't even given 5 voice samples to them yet but the addition of so many priorities in FPW really help their character in matches and flesh them out so much more than they were in FPR. I've had so much fun giving Ralph "Pot Belly" Ferguson disgusting taunts priorities after some of his moves. And my gold prospector edit, Jasper Woodruff, does a double taunt priority after his strike exchange clincher. Clincher -> Ready Go voice + Short taunt -> Dancing taunt while still saying "ready go". It makes for a rootin, tootin good time! Can't wait to add more of the voices. This conversation has made me more interested in trying to use the voice slots. Anyone have an edit they could share as an example of how they implemented? I took a peak at Geese but curious to see others. I guess what I'm asking is... can I copy your homework? Unfortunately, neither of the two Geese edits uploaded on the Workshop have 5 voice samples. They are still just using two. I have a third Geese that I've been working on for the past few months (after advice from Spunk) and that is the only edits I've updated with the 2.0/DLC voices and moves. That Geese will be uploaded later in the year π

The good news is that Furis still has a prominent role in my plans for UBL story lines and actually did make a brief veturn return in an RP a few years ago (before FPW got announced and upended things). Which Furis will return is a really good question. Both his comedic and vicious versions would be great with the added priorities and voices. I see room for each of them. And I think by Halloween is more than a fair deadline to shoot for π

Just wanted to jump back in here to say this thread was super helpful in setting up my edits voice slots. I settled on what most people said, using hisses and grunts for small strikes, larger grunts for big lifts, and usually screams or catch phrases for finisher moves or taunts.
Setting it up for edits is really fucking tedious, but it does add a welcome element to the overall experience when done right...

How do you preview a sound with a mouse and keyboard? I haven't messed with the voice shots much because I have to plug my controller in to preview the sounds.

I haven't went through all voice clips, but is there any that resemble a rooster crow? I've been using a howl that's close enough, but thought there might be something better hidden in there.

I can't think of any multi syllable things that sound like a cockadoodledoo or anything, but maybe American Male 2 #38, mysteriously named "Fu~!"? It's just a wooooo but a little long and a little hoarse, and maybe a little roosterish.

I'd like to echo (lariat) the above request.
If anyone finds a voice even remotely similar to a bird, please announce it immediately π¦

I really wish there was a voice clip that was just some songbird-style warbling whistling. I think I'd get an obnoxious amount of mileage out of something like that. (i.e. Steel knuckles -> hands up in the air + innocent whistling)

Fire Pro Wrestling D has some cool sound bites that I wish could return but obviously canβt.
The βEC-FβN-Wβ one in particular.
