Nope, people complained, they added it back in, I think after Carl made a mod, can't recall.

Remove land mines, remove lumberjack. Hey looky here, a new match type as well Requires a new setting (remove land mines), the logic that determines when it's enabled/disabled based on match type, and an overview of the Settings sub-menu to determine if it needs to be re-designed to facilitate the additional option. Even changes like enabling the HP Bars and grapple input indicator require more work than you would originally think. Enough work for them to push those updates further down the priority queue, I'm assuming.

The modders could tell us more, but maybe that's more work than Spike think it's worth. Originally we didn't even get S-1 mode because they figured nobody cared anymore. To be fair, S-1 Mode is complete trash. Was it Dave K that was pushing for a retro pack of the old Critical logo and things like that? It's possible that the dev team just doesn't understand the appeal of adding those types of things. Director seemed very confused that a basic move (airplane spin?) won the Japanese poll instead of something big and flashy.

Regarding the confusion with Airplane Spin, I guess the team expected more NJPW move requests as opposed to an old comedy move? Not realizing that the majority of Early Access players were the older community from prior titles?

The airplane spin wasn't a comedy move back in it's time...it was a legit finisher.

I've gotten as much mileage out of S-1 mode as I have anything else in the game. That's not to say it can't be improved(and I have a topic full of those suggestions), but even as it is, S-1 can give you some very entertaining matches if one figures how to build edits around it.

i hate chris denkers voice so i cant watch most of his vids lol (not EVERY youtuber has the voice for hosting that they THINK they do nor are they charismatic enough) but this debate on the creation community getting it early intrigues me so id like to throw my 2 cents in the pot...this strategy the devs took is the first time i felt they were serious about legitimately entering the western market for this game and i am excited for it i hope it does bring those "WWE Casual zombie fans that ruin wrestling for us marks" because those guys spend way more money on the products then we do FOR SURE...yea maybe you buy that one AJ Styles a year shirt but lil timmys dad spent $450 on roman reigns shit this year alone so we NEED them casual guys around to waste their money so we can be entertained for cheap watching nxt takeovers and telling the world how it SHOULD be booked online lol.
Would it be nice for spike to cater to that very small slice of the fan base thats been here since the 90's? sure, but they did do that by simply bringing a game back that has never been a true money maker for them its largely sat on the B to C+ side of money making titles. They truthfully owe us nothing and by breaking into mainstream could replace us 2,000 diehards with 50,000 new fans easy and not miss us one bit...i for one am just glad i still live in a world where firepro exists and do not regret the hundreds of dollars i have spent importing and re buying every version i can get my greedy lil mitts on,i think were on the cusp of something bigger here and the market has never been more primed for it with indy wrestling being so big right now...hell i didnt even have to take apart my PlayStation apart and have a bootdisc and 50 pages of translations to play this time lmfao

It wouldn't be proper marketing if they didn't look at the bigger demographic of wrestling fans. As much as our niche community has done with the Fire Pro franchise for years, we must remember that Spike Chunsoft is first and foremost a business and therefore the bottom line is still key to their success regardless of pursuing one's lifelong dream to reinvigorate a gaming franchise. That's why they made an agreement with NJPW to showcase them as they are the most popular wrestling organization not tied to a yearly game entry. That's why they gave promo copies to Youtubers with decent subscriber fanbases to generate even more interest. That is why they are targeting the PS4 console since most Japanese gamers don't have nearly as much access to a desktop PC than they do a game console. Does that mean that we may potentially get an influx of new, inexperienced gamers that have skills comparable to WWE games? Sure. However, we are the biggest community for this and we need to do our part in ensuring that the people who want to dive deep into the inner confines of this game have a better understanding of it. This game will be around for years and it's still being worked on by developers and modders alike. These are good times. Let's enjoy it.

Don't look at it as some Annoying Youtube Nerd being given a special reward and getting to play the game early. Do you get angry at Video Game Magazines like PC Gamer and Computer Gaming World or Websites like IGN and RPS for getting advanced copies for reviews and previews?
This is Spike getting to put their game in front of potentially a million set of eyeballs where the large majority have probably never heard of the game before for probably an extremely small cost (a copy of the game, maaaaybe a tiny amount of cash or other goodies). In addition this is 1million pairs of eyeballs that are presumably almost all interested in wrestling games, since that seems to be the majority of Denk's content judging by playlists, so its exactly the kind of audience Spike wants to reach. If even 1% of Denker's 1million subscriber base actually watch that video that is 10,000 people looking at Spike's product (and actually it currently has 17,000 views). If even 5% of those 10,000 people end up buying the game, that is 500 extra copies sold. Those are pessimistic %s so may not seem like much but it was still very cheap for Spike to do. How much would more traditional advertising (EG: Magazine spread, website banner ads, TV commercials, etc) have cost? Would it have potentially reached a million wrestling fans? And unlike many forms of advertising, where people often consciously tune it out, Denk's audience presumably WANTS to watch his videos.
I find most youtuber "celebs" annoying as hell, but damn they can be some of the cheapest and most effective advertising on the planet, if your product is suitable for the format. So don't look at it as some Whacky Dork getting to have fun early, think of him as a cheap-as-peanuts advertising agency.

Quick question and sorry if it’s already been asked but can you edit or make a new design for the current njpw guys in the game and add it to them or would it mess all that up ?

You can copy and save them as a new edit and do whatever you want to them. But the defaults stay as is (similar to the default SWA guys).
