My wife and I actually entered our reception to the Metallica-performed version of Ecstasy. They're definitely why I knew who Morricone was, but he was a huge part of the iconic "epic western" sound. That is SUCH a kick ass wedding song!! ๐ Was it the Binge & Purge version or the S&M version? ๐ I'm glad he lived long enough to see that he had left a legacy. I feel like his work's been much more recognized in the past couple decades, and it's good he was around for that. Completely agree, I'm really glad he got to truly see the legacy that he left ๐

That is SUCH a kick ass wedding song!! ๐ Was it the Binge & Purge version or the S&M version? ๐ Neither - there's a version of it literally played BY Metallica. They did it for an Ennio Morricone tribute album called We All Love Ennio Morricone. They also played their version live at least once, demonstrating that it's actually James that plays the entire lead part. My wife was kinda set on using Alberto Del Rio's entrance music (which is/was pretty pimp, I'll admit), but I pulled out "Ecstasy" and it won out pretty quickly. Here it is on YouTube: youtu.be/F1xl5UlrBLs

I just remembered that I had that version too - it was in a separate playlist๐
I have two versions of the song in my Red Dead playlist that I often listen to.
I should get the rest of the album though, especially now. I just have Metallica's contribution to it.

And Naya Rivera confirmed dead. That sucks, man. My wife used to watch Glee like it was her job, and I always liked her character - I even used the name Santana on one of my OCs after her.
I didn't know much about her outside of that show, but still a bummer.

I donโt know how this slipped by me, but Carl Reiner passed away June 29th at 98 years old! I thought heโd live to be 200!

RIP Joanna Cole
She was an author of children's literature, most famous for creating the Magic School Bus series of books with illustrator Bruce Degen. I was a pretty big fan of those as a kid and really enjoyed watching the original TV series with my younger sister. They definitely had a winning formula for making science education interesting and entertaining for gradeschoolers.

And he was one of the more prominent faces on the ads for "from the vault" episodes of Jeopardy's celebrity shows that will be airing next week too.

Also Olivia de Havilland at 104 years old! She was born on day one of The Battle of the Somme, July 1, 1916 (19240 fatalities on the Brit side that day alone...)!!! Imagine what the world looks like to someone that age? How many total shifts in technology youโd see. Crazy stuff.
