Just a wide range of emotions experienced over these past few days that it is incredibly difficult to articulate thought of the picture that has been painted of the U.S. lately. Thoroughly disgusted for sure, but mostly hoping that all of you that are being affected by this are doing your part to stay safe.

I’ve become progressively more susceptible to corniness over the years, and it’s fine if it sounds corny now, but I remember reading this and liking it, it pops into my head every now and then, and it did when I read that last post,
“ TO BE HOPEFUL in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places—and there are so many—where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction. And if we do act, IN HOWEVER SMALL A WAY, we don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvellous victory.” Howard Zinn

I feel silly following that burst of positivity with a complaint but I wasn't going to say much anyway. Just a reiteration that there are times when I hate living where I do. Which was all I was going to say anyway because it could go down a hole of political discourse if I say more.

On an unrelated note, I also love those people that whine at you about being carded and then, when they finally show you their ID, turn out to be like 22.

It takes an especially vile person to incite mob violence in a community that they don't even live in.

For better or worse people will show you their true nature rather easily now.
Certainly the next couple weeks will probably be weird, then we should be phasing in for the rest of the month but even that will have it's "Honestly I've missed you, but unless something changes this summer..."

Yesterday ended up being the first step. Definitely some "hmm, that's interesting" but too early to tell either way.

For some reason I was reminded during the night of a particular customer I had years ago. She was buying groceries and I couldn't tell what sort of card she had so I asked if it was credit or EBT (food stamps). She told me it was credit because she "actually works for her money."
I must have given her a look because she then apologized if that offended me.
Now, I've never been on EBT myself but I know the requirements to get it. Back in 2010, even though I was barely clearing $300 every other week after taxes and insurance (and that was by picking up every extra shift I could), I still made too much money to qualify.
Not to mention, I was typically seeing people dressed for work as the ones with EBT cards. Usually service industry workers but I also saw nurses with them sometimes.
Plus, the legislation has actually made it harder since then by now requiring people to have a job. Otherwise they can only have it for a maximum of three months.
It just struck me as a rather ignorant thing to say, basically.
I mean, I have worse stories (ohh, do I have worse stories) but I was reminded of that particular one last night and felt like sharing.

ProTip: If you're going to crank call a store, make sure your target can at least understand what you're saying.
Better ProTip: Don't crank call stores in the first place.

Yesterday was mixed. Good timing in one area, iffy in another. And again it was nice that apparently one of our counterparts was in on the conversation and backing our thoughts.

So apparently there was a BLM demonstration outside the store where I work yesterday afternoon. I hope that was just because we happen to be on one of the more visible corners in town and isn't an indication that I work with/for racists.

I haven't been on the boards as much as I'd like. The community here seems really chill. My fantasy journal was pushed to the wayside again because I have bigger things going on.
Time for my rant:
I just want to say that I while I am proud to be a disciple of Jesus, I am saddened by what His name has been attached to.
Jesus doesn't endorse mega-church pastors who swindle the gullible into buying him private jets and then tries to blow a plague away. Kenneth Copeland is a false teacher, the likes of which Paul warned Timothy about in 1 Timothy 6. (This is the chapter where Paul wrote, "The love of money is the root of all evil." Please emphasize the word love. Money itself is a tool.)
Jesus is not a gun toting Republican. Jesus is not a Democrat. Jesus doesn't endorse Donald Trump. He doesn't endorse Biden. While I personally approach politics like baseball...playing right-center field; Jesus doesn't support any political party.
Racism is not Biblical. I've heard people cherry-pick verses to say the Bible supports slavery, oppression of women and racism. I've been studying the Bible for a long time and have a degree on Theology. The Bible doesn't support slavery, it doesn't say women are inferior to men and nowhere does it support racism.
Western consumercentric Christianity as portrayed by false teachers and many church goers is a FAR cry from the values of the Kingdom of Heaven that Jesus and Paul taught.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believe in Him will not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28.
My prayer for us all in these times is that we find that rest.

So one of the potential ideas floated would suck but after hearing and seeing where the other ones are at (both of the "durr I don't know" and here's something that isn't really wrong but also not terribly relevant) yeah I think we're pretty much going to have babysit the whole place.

Tons of WTF after yesterday's update, not necessarily all related to each other. For a few minutes I had more specifics, but after reading it over.
I've seen what I don't want. Not professionally and definitely not personally.

Still at work for another hour and I’m missing the big PS5 games reveal happening now.
