2 confirmed, self-quarantined Coronavirus cases in my county. They're a couple that a few days ago attended a Trump speech in D.C. and came back. I just....can't anymore with people. I truly, madly, deeply despise the "the government is trying to kill you" crowd that pops up when things like recession, natural disasters, and disease pop up. I mean, they're always there but when things go south, they're galvanized to collectively go "see?" to us non-believers. Like any zealot, they can't be reasoned with and the more you attempt to do so, the more aggressively defensive they become, almost always to the point of irrationality. It is intriguing in its own way yet incredibly vexing in general. Challenge accepted to make me feel better. ♪ I had to stand in line at the market To buy some soap, hand gloves, and TP Don't wanna live like this forever Go fuck yourself, COVID-19 Ooooooo Ooooooo ♪

Good news, toilet paper is in stock, bad news, schools/daycares closed, post secondary schools online only, all museums, recreation centres and the like are closed, and we’re up to 56 cases, with a couple of new ones that were spread locally rather than being travel related. Yay! But,

I guess my area is supposed to get hit with the big virus soon. I have a friend in Canadian Military Intelligence and they are tracking the spread of the virus throughout Canada. He just messaged me on Steam asking me if my plant had closed down due to the virus. I told him I didn't know because I'm still on vacation until next Monday. He told schools here would probably be getting closed down soon as they are predicting the virus to, what he called 'spinning up' through the province soon. Personally, I would have no problem getting my vacation extended for a while. I have had no contact with anyone at work in the last three weeks so I don't know what my company's contingency plan is. Knowing them they will wait until there is a full blown pandemic before stopping production. They recently harassed a guy at work who was off for gallbladder surgery because his line leader forgot to take his name off the call in sheet and he started getting threatening phone messages for not showing up for his on calls.
EDIT: Apparently Trudeau just shut down our borders. Three cases of the virus confirmed in my area.

It's already here where I live. In fact, the first case is quarantined at the hospital that's located 3 blocks from where I work. >_< I'm content to not do anything different than normal, aside from wiping down public hand-holds. I'm going to keep working until they tell me that I can't but if I DO start to feel unusual then yeah, I'm out.
Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day and the annual parade is the 2nd largest annual event in the city, being among the largest and most celebrated in the nation (the Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament is greater in scope but it's not a permanent fixture, just a very frequent one). Needless to say, it's been canceled and all bars and restaurants with occupancy greater than 50 (i.e. the vast majority) are closed indefinitely.
I don't drink alcohol and I'm not the least bit Irish but I do have some little admiration for my hometown and it's just pretty sucky all around to have to collectively skip one of few traditions that brings the city together. Obviously that pales in the grand scheme of the global pandemic where people are losing their independence, their livelihoods, and worst of all, their lives and I wouldn't deign of comparing my lamenting a missed local tradition with the actual suffering of those impacted by the virus outbreak. Still, it's probably going to get much worse around here before it gets better on the virus front and I hope that whenever the "all clear" is given, the city can get back to rising from its slow, agonizing "death" from the 70s-90s.
At least we still have that Super Bowl win to fall back on for some positive vibes.

We've been advised in the UK to not go to the pub. My place of work has sent home 3 employees today due to showing symptoms.
It's looking likely the UK will be under total lockdown within the next week or so.
So I've made some purchases of crates of beer for myself, extra bits of food for my daughters. And I've downloaded a few of Avenger3's edit formulas of wrestlers I've used over the last year on WWE 2K19. To keep me busy, just incase.
And all you people on here look after yourself and your familys, yes it's going to be a shitty few weeks but we'll get through it. And keep an eye on any elderly neighbours, as let's be honest if it weren't for them we wouldn't be here anyway thanks to their heroics in the 1940s.

Today is going to suck but yesterday (hell, this whole week in a sense) really hammered the "if you don't do it it doesn't get done."

All the damn wrestling shows not named Wrestlemania are being cancelled. This sucks. There was some stuff I was looking forward to seeing that won't be happening.
Guess there's Fire Pro to fill that void, huh?

It was only a couple minutes but really the delay shouldn't have happened at all. They know what's needed. And the others could have handled it. And of course with everything else going on I couldn't just walk to the main office and say "WTF?" Maybe by next time things will have settled down but I'm not putting up with shit I don't have to.
But even that's kind of moot. There's several ways today could suck and those will loom for a couple more weeks if not months.

COVID-19 is ruining my life and I'm not even sick.
I'm facing a lot of personal life changes that I would prefer to not divulge and the existence of this stupid fuckin' virus is making things worse. Everything I need to get done is pretty much cut off because of the virus. Add the mass media hysteria and it just doesn't stop.
You could probably guess that my anxiety is through the roof.
Insanity seems like a pretty damn good alternative right about now.

I've heard the rumor my plant might be closing down due to the virus this weekend. I don't stay in touch with anyone I work with so I won't know for sure until I show up for Monday night shift and see if the parking lot is empty or not.

Early close as expected but again a microcosm.
Two left early. The other was still in their lackadaisical mood, with neither the time issue or even not having to worry about the extras getting them to put any effort in. Two called in with fairly inane questions So I ended up handling almost everything as usual.
Other areas fared the same, although some got called in to help or do a literal "get situated then shut down"
