He's truly managed to do it all over the past ten years: Tag Team, Aftermath, and Openweight Championships, and won the World Open, TagFest, and Escalation tournaments. I was updating his bio the other day to add the new Openweight reign and was blown away by how much he has accomplished and how long he has been around. It's gonna be 15 years for him next year. That's crazy to me! He's held way more titles than most of my roster and even run circles around Geese in that regard. Geese: "Yes, he does strike me as a man who circles around the drain endlessly." Saji: "You got some leftover jelly on ya collar." At this point, Saji just needs to hold the Trios championships and he'll have won every major accolade in SWA. You think he can convince Connor and Lina to compete for the Trios titles? 😁

They were in the initial tournament, but they lost out to Lords of Desolation. Maybe they'll take another shot at it at some point, but probably not while Saji is champ. It'd be a lot to hold the Openweight title and be going for the Trios title.

Man, Kazuo Saji just keeps racking up the hits in SWA. Last month at Aftermath, Saji defeated an absolutely ascendant Carlos Ortega-Reyes to become the second ever SWA Openweight Champion to defeat the winner of the World Open. In what is beginning to feel like a matter of reality trolling us all, Carlos beat Connor Cipris to win the tournament, again denying us the next Saji vs Cipris match. With Connor reportedly having fucked up his knee during the match, it sounds like we'll be denied a while longer, too. Of course, since then, Samael Tangaroa, who had disappeared after the Lords of Desolation coup last July, redebuted to attack Kazuo and declare himself the next challenger. Samael really does like to disappear for a while after suffering a major defeat, only to come back scarier than ever. Will Saji survive this challenge? Only time will tell.
Edit: While I'm here just doing some thread maintenance, moving wrestlers around, etc.

Wow, Saji making SWA history yet again!? 📜✍️ That really sucks about Connor's knee though. He's had a bad run of things lately. We need Saji vs. Connor before the decade ends! Of course, since then, Samael Tangaroa, who had disappeared after the Lords of Desolation coup last July, redebuted to attack Kazuo and declare himself the next challenger. Of course, Saji is the target of a returning Samael! 😄 Saji: "Boy had himself a good cry now wants to invite me to his pity party? B*tch gonna get got."

I've been getting back into Fire Promoter over the past week or two. I'm running a small faction (Austerity) as a promotion against other factions and promotions. We just had a great "Cross-Promotion" event against Matsuki Holdings. A few shows later, I get a report that the bad luck of Connor Cipris has continued 😔

Dammit, Connor. I don't pay attention for a couple weeks because I've got a lot going on and this is what you do with that time? For shame. For shame.

Worse, the Matsuki Holdings promotion actually went bankrupt 🤦♂️
That is the first time I've seen a rival promotion go bankrupt in Fire Promoter! The good news is that my promotion has since acquired all of their members. Connor seems to not trust our promotion though. There's also kind of an inter-promotional war going on between Matsuki and my owner's loyal group. I think the Matsuki members blame my promotion for taking all their titles (true) and see that as a reason why they went bankrupt. (possibly true). Tetsu is trying to play peacemaker between the two groups.
I have to say, Fire Promoter can be really fun if you go into the mode with a specific story and plan. Some of the random stuff that happens can really spark some ideas too.

Emergence has come and gone, and with it was a bit of a shuffling of the roster, as is usually the case. The Angry Wrasslin' Nerd has been incommunicado of late, which actually has me kind of worried; the dude can be a jerk at times but I hope he's okay. So I'll just be giving a brief rundown of the major events. Spoilers ahead, if you still intend to watch the show.

The Angry Wrasslin' Nerd has been incommunicado of late, which actually has me kind of worried; the dude can be a jerk at times but I hope he's okay. I hope he wasn't in NY the past year... Rumor has it Tess Tarler was backstage at the show. Tess has been all over the world the past year, wrestling for a variety of promotions, with still no sign of where she might ultimately sign, other than, in her words, "Not LAWL. I'll never look at an avocado the same way again." Tess TarLAWL - well there goes that pun 😁 Emi Yamazaki announced that Emergence was her last PPV show with SWA. She hasn't said for sure where she's going yet, but rumor has it she's eyeing a deal with OG-Joshi. Now OG-Joshi just needs to sort through its accumulated roster to make full sense of it... Kazuo Saji scored his fourth defense of the SWA Openweight Championship, turning back the challenger, VOLT Tsukuda, who has really come into his own in recent months as a top-tier competitor. VOLT has been on a helluva run this year so it's a huge victory for Saji!
Good on Saji for his fourth defense! 😎 Adrian Rose's appearance is awesome!

I'm actually wondering what VOLT's steady ascendance up the ranks could mean for the Vanguard as a unit. VOLT has always been willing to follow the lead of Paul Lambert, but he's never made it any secret that he also sees Paul as a rival and a target to strive for. In addition, you also have the fact that VOLT has candidly admitted before that he thinks Paul's approach to keeping SWA safe is too passive and he wishes the Vanguard would more aggressively sweep out bad actors like Murderer's Row or the Lords of Desolation. If he reaches that level of main event status, we could see cracks start to form in the faction.

Yeah, Vanguard is gonna have some internal dispute.
At best, that sounds like an interesting leadership debate. At worst, a coup.
(Or a mutiny if Vanguard is taken to the seas!)
It all depends on how aggressively VOLT will advocate for, and realize, his vision for them.
