Relating to Panda's post, I've always been a fan of having "branching" storylines. This way you can have your favorites in any given match that has storyline implications but if that specific character doesn't win it's fine because you have a fallback story path for whoever did win. So if I book a triple threat match and my pick was Edit A but Edit C wins I would never book myself in a corner because I already have plans for that scenario, even though it wasn't the outcome I wanted. And If I REALLY wanted Edit A to win I could always weave him/her in the alternante win scenarios so they remain relevent. You end up writing/prepping more because you have to plan for all scenarios but I enjoy it because it the most because it allows me to watch my own product as a fan by going into every match with a favorite.
