Now that we got the 80's Mania Wrestling Returns updates out of the way (in case you haven't already, go back a page for more recent posts and Wrestlers to uncover), I'm going to throw a few more likenesses at you. I'm sure you guys will be able to solve the ones I couldn't figure out. Book It! The Pro-Wrestling Promoter Card Game (continued):
90's Joshi fans should appreciate this first batch of Wrestlers. Hisako Shinken is Akira Hokuto. Erika King is Aja Kong. In real-life, Aja Kong's real name is in fact Erika. From Foam Hammer Games' Twitter account, I'm told Teri Squal is based on Terra Calaway (I would have thought Alundra Blayze, myself). Supposedly, Squal is an alter ego of the following card: Terra's dinosaur gimmick. Jersey Sunshine is Sonny Kiss. Kyda Thorn is Nyla Rose. The illustration has a rose loincloth and "thorn" itself is a nod to rose thorns. Demi Weaver is Rhea Rhipley. At first I thought Luchadillo was Black Taurus, but, on second thought, I'm pretty sure Luchadillo is Luchasaurus. "She'll see you in your dreams and nightmares, too." Not sure on this character. Paige? Tessa Blanchard? Stones Malone is Balls Mahoney. Cody Tyson is Kenny Omega. A gender-swapped nod to both Jon Moxley and Dean Ambrose. Filipino Dave I'm sure is Samoa Joe. Though, the second card looks closer to Rikishi. Dr. T. Prodigy. Another one I'm stuck on. Arn Anderson? Clearly not Dr. Death. I think we can all agree that this Wrestler is certainly not Drew McIntyre. At first, I thought Tommy Hazard could be Tommy Dreamer. Now I'm leaning towards Shield-era Seth Rollins. Myles Miles - Looks like R. Truth. Taurus Fire - ??? Kel Valle- - Looks like Paige. Though, the attire kind of reminds me of Hikaru Shida. We already discussed Terradactyl. Mary Murder could be Ronda Rousey or Shayna Baszler. Due to her hair colour, I'm guessing Lucy Fist is Becky Lynch. I think Murder Doll is supposed to be Abadon. Sam Mustang is Roddy Piper. Virgil Garrett is Cody Rhodes. Ted Babylon is Chris Jericho from his recent fight against Tetsuya Naito. M.J.F. anyone? Not sure on this character. Most likely not Joey Ryan.

I think the last one is iffy. Chocolate is probably Willie Mack.

I'm going to throw two more references at you guys before we get back to Book It! CreateAWrestler:
This next entry reminds me of the days of Newgrounds Flash games. CreateAWrestler (which can be found at theparodynetwork.com), is a basic avatar maker with a Pro-Wrestling theme. While, there isn't much to talk about, one of the makeup pieces looks similar to Papa Shango. There's also a Flash cameo and Lion-themed titles that look like they were inspired by NJPW. Journey Of Wrestling:If you ever wondered what the Fire Pro Workshop would look like with 8-bit graphics, Journey Of Wrestling is a good start. Journey Of Wrestling is a booking simulator that is free to play (though, a paid version is also available for those wanting more perks in their career modes) and is text based. Listing all of the Wrestler and pop culture references would be exhaustive. Just know there's a Workshop feature where you can create, upload, download and even tweak other creator's edits. Using the editor's 8 bit edit pieces, I was able to create the following so far: Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody The Legion of Doom. Keiji Mutoh, Kokushi Muso and The Great Muta. The Ultimate Warrior and The Great Kabuki. The Destroyer. And even a few video game characters such as Virtua Fighter's Wolf Hawkfield and Soul Calibur's Taki. Players can also rate your submissions to Journey's workshop.

Book It! The Pro-Wrestling Promoter Card Game:
Back to uncovering more of this card game's roster, let's take a look at a few more likenesses: Mixing Cactus Jack, Dude Love, Mick Foley and Mankind all together wasn't easy, but Jack Love did it. With Becky Lynch's slogan aside, CZW's Nick Gage? There's a hardcore icon in the corner. No idea on this one. Any suggestions? Big E. Thunder Kitsune could be Thunder Rosa. Though, I wouldn't rule out Io Shirai either. Velveteen Dream. Joey Janela? He has a hardcore icon next to his name. Necro Butcher Darby Allin? Looks more like Eddie Guerrero. But, in fact, this is another card for Chris Jericho. Finn Balor. A gender-swapped Adam Cole. Just in case you edit makers out there need some inspiration. A gender-swapped John Cena. Another hardcore edition. I'm pretty sure this is LuFisto. Another hardcore Wrestler. Sandman? I'm not sure on this one. Jim Cornette? He has a microphone, has a similar name and appearance. ??? Looks like Excalibur. Totally Megumi Kudo. Even the infamous "Crying Wrestling Guy" (it's still real to me, damnit) has a spinoiff character in Book It!

Craven is probably Sami Callahan. And maybe bandido for the bandana mask with the Mexican flag tattoo but that feels like a stretch.

Craven is probably Sami Callahan. And maybe bandido for the bandana mask with the Mexican flag tattoo but that feels like a stretch. I appreciate all your feedback so far. Any card with a barbed wire icon is from Book It's hardcore expansion pack, I believe. I'm told there's 60 Wrestler cards in total from the base game.

On a related note, I finished scanning a guidebook from Super Fire Pro-Wrestling III Final Bout (1993). Has plenty of character illustrations, includes additional mentions of Wrestlers such as The Sheik, Volk Han, Giant Baba, Bobo Brazil, Dynamite Kansai and even has a sit-down interview with Koji Kitao (who tries out the game!). All 128 pages can be viewed here: criticalclub.com/thread/1691/final-bout-guide-book-scans?page=1&scrollTo=52769

I think the last one is iffy. Chocolate is probably Willie Mack. Yes, it is Effy. Joey Janela? He has a hardcore icon next to his name. Looks like one of the Young Bucks. Nick Jackson? He even has some bucks in the trousers... Darby Allin? Naw. That's Sami Callihan. Jim Cornette? He has a microphone, has a similar name and appearance. He looks like a young Jacques Rougeau to me. Name makes sense too, since his tag team partner as "The Quebecers" was Pierre Carl Ouellet. Another hardcore Wrestler. Sandman? I'm not sure on this one. Yes, it's Sandman. In ECW he would often wear some white animal print sweatpants... I think I've seen him in some tiger striped sweatpants too.

Thanks for stepping in, guys. Modern Wrestling isn't my strong suit.
Glad we're tackling these together.

Trying to find decent pictures of the rest of the Book It! cards is a challenge in and of itself. Though, there is another expansion: Far left, I'm not sure. Toni Storm? Next is certainly Hiromu Takahashi. Followed by Great Muta (who looks more like The Great Nita here) and "Katana" (Asuka). Mox is a gender-swapped Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose. As a Justin myself, I approve of this next likeness: Justin Lightning Tiger is Jushin Thunder Liger. While searching for more Book It! cards, I came across another card game. This one happens to come from Japan and was released back in 2014: Maskmen
I could pick out Blue Demon, The Destroyer, Mil Mascaras and Tinieblas. Going back to video games, fans of "Rowdy" Roddy Piper might get a kick out of these next two screens:
They Live: The Game
This Newgrounds Flash game is a tribute to cult movie classic They Live which features Roddy Piper who starred as lead character slash bubblegum chewing badass John Nada. Next up is another They Live tribute with a 16-bit upgrade: What would have been perfect on the Sega or Super Nintendo at the time is sadly just a screenshot. Though, a beautifully designed pixel art homage nevertheless.

A quick one from the Fire Pro universe that I had gotten wrong up until recently:
Fire Pro-Wrestling Iron Slam '96's hidden sub boss Minoru Randori isn't actually Minoru Suzuki. Or even a man at all. The likeness is actually Shinobu Kandori.
That's probably the first inter-gender matchup in the Fire Pro series that I can think of...
So, for anyone who read my gameFAQ Iron Slam FAQ over the years, I apologize. In the world of Puroresu, even I'm still learning something new every day.

Another quick one: not long ago, someone discovered a new finding in the code of the original Virtua Fighter.
Jeffrey McWild's was originally named "Willie Roberts". Since Jeffry is based on real life karateka Willie "Bear Killer" Williams, it's understandable why Willie's name was changed.

If you thought this thread was down for the count and all the best books have already been written on Wrestler likenesses ...think again! Next up Rowdy Wrestling:Think rock'em, sock'em robots meets WWF's cartoon era and you'll have a pretty good idea of Rowdy Wrestling. The player is given two characters to start with. Joe Average and Blaze. The rest of 43 characters must be unlocked by collecting coins from winning championships, winning matches, throwing out opponents in royal rumbles or by watching ads. Unfortunately, there's a ton of ads. Installing an ad-blocker makes Rowdy Wrestling freeze up on Mozilla, and the reward system pays very little; inspiring players to sit through 30 second ads repeatedly just to unlock characters. 42+ characters at 400 coins a piece. Where each ad only gives you 50 coins a nd every character is unlocked at random.... that's a lot of advertisements to sit through. Anyways, the Rowdy roster is: 1) Joe Average - Rowdy Roddy Piper 2) Blaze - Virgil I think 3) Rob Steinmeyer - Rick Steiner 4) Albert The Large Man - Andre The Giant 5) Randall Vicious - Randy Savage 6) Scooter Steinmeyer - Scott Steiner 7) Bonk The Clown - Doink The Clown 8) The Mega Beast - The Ultimate Warrior 9) Angry Pete - I think this is supposed to be Ahmed Johnson or Tatanka 10) Jim Average - Looks like Blue Blazer 11) Brent Diamond - Bret The Hitman Hart 12) Buzzsaw - Hacksaw Jim Duggan 13) Jimmy Diamond - Jim The Anvil Neidhart 14) Wes Phoenix - Mable 15) Mad Tad - Sycho Sid 16) Tremor - Earthquake 17) Mad Dog Mitchell - Junkyard Dog 18) Mysterion - Rey Mysterio 19) Grand Champion - Yokozuna 20) Lee Phoenix - I think this is Mo from Men on a Mission.
21) Big Wave - Typhoon 22) Manchester Ruler - The British Bulldog? 23) 2-Brite - Koko B. Ware 24) Bigfoot - Giant Gonzalez 25) Gustavo Brickhouse - ???
26) Hardcore Hank - Devon Dudley 27) The Dead Man - The Undertaker 28) Captain Fantastic - Sting 29) Rick The Cobra Long - Jake The Snake Roberts 30) Horse Cop - The Mountie
31) Greg - Zeus or Big John Studd? Maybe the creator of the game? 32) The Raging Inferno - I think this is Vader 33) The Maniac - Hulk Hogan 34) Gino Martini - Marty Jannetty 35) Billion Dollar Guy - Ted DiBiase
36) Lieutenant Mayhem - Sgt. Slaughter 37) Danny Delicious - Ravishing Rick Rude 38) Hardcore Hugo - Bubba Ray Dudley 39) The Tax Man - I.R.S. 40) Michael Swan - Shawn Michaels 41) Neon - Owen Hart 42) Pow Pow Powell - Bam Bam Bigelow 43) Mr. Excellent - Mr. Perfect 44) Sailo - Haku 45) Basher - The Incredible Hulk I also noticed Road Warrior Animal as a hidden character along with Mr. Fuji, Bobby Heenan, Paul Bearer and Jimmy Hart as managers.
